What is Juvéderm Ultra XC®?
Juvéderm Ultra XC® is one product in a collection of hyaluronic acid fillers offered through the Juvederm® line of products. Each product is designed to address specific concerns of the face such as filling fine lines and wrinkles, filling the nasolabial folds – the “smile and laugh” lines, adding fullness to the cheeks, filling in acne scars, and plumping thin lips.
What is Hyaluronic Acid?
A: You may have seen magazine ads touting the benefits of Hyaluronic Acid, and for a good reason, it works! Hyaluronic Acid occurs naturally in the human body. As we age, we need more of this substance to add volume and help the skin retain moisture, and in general, to keep us looking young. Through dermal fillers containing Hyaluronic Acid, such as Juvéderm Ultra XC®, Dr. Singer can help you and your skin look younger.
What is the process?
Dr. Singer will first meet with you in a pre-treatment consultation (held the same day as your injectable appointment) to determine your options and whether you are a good candidate for treatment. Once approved, Dr. Singer will inject the Juvéderm Ultra XC® into targeted areas on the face to minimize your fine lines and wrinkles, and/or into the lips to plump and define them.
Does it hurt?
Juvéderm® products noted with the “XC” contain lidocaine to help minimize discomfort during treatment. Additionally, Dr. Singer uses a topical numbing cream applied 20 minutes before injection, if desired.
How Long Does the Swelling Last?
You will see mild swelling, redness, and bruising after the procedure. This usually resolves in three days, though can last up to two weeks. Depending on your schedule, you may find that having your injections on a Friday will allow you the weekend to recover so that you will be ready for the workweek beginning on Monday.

How long do the effects last?
Dr. Singer’s patients find that results usually last six months depending upon the injection site. Individual results will vary by patient.
