Fall is here—and if you have been thinking about refreshing your appearance, this is one of my favorite times of year to start planning.
Between cooler weather, upcoming holidays, family gatherings, holiday parties and all those photographs, fall gives you the opportunity to address the areas that have been bothering you while still allowing time for healing before the holiday season is in full swing.
Whether you are considering a surgical procedure, injectables or a skin treatment, the key is planning ahead. Every treatment has its own recovery timeline, and your ideal treatment schedule depends on your goals, your health and the procedure you choose.
So, what are some of the most popular fall treatments?
1. Upper Blepharoplasty: A Little Surgery With a Big Difference
The eyes are often one of the first areas to show signs of aging. Heavy upper eyelid skin can make you look tired—even when you feel completely rested.
Upper blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, removes excess skin and can create a more refreshed, open appearance.
Fall can be an excellent time for this procedure because it allows you to plan your recovery before the holidays. Bruising and swelling are expected during the initial healing period, and individual recovery varies, so I recommend giving yourself adequate time before an important event.
If your goal is to look refreshed for Thanksgiving, holiday parties or family photographs, don’t wait until the last minute to schedule your consultation.
2. Injectables: The Holiday-Ready Refresh
If surgery isn’t on your wish list, injectables are one of the most popular ways to refresh your appearance with little downtime.
Neuromodulators such as Botox and Dysport can soften the appearance of expression lines, including forehead lines, frown lines and crow’s feet.
Dermal fillers can restore or enhance volume in areas such as the lips, cheeks and lower face and can soften certain facial folds.
The important thing to remember is that injectables should not necessarily be scheduled the day before your holiday party!
Bruising and swelling can occur with injections, and neuromodulators generally take approximately one to two weeks to reach their full effect. Planning your appointment a couple of weeks before a major event gives us time to evaluate your results and make adjustments if appropriate.
My goal is always refreshed—not overdone.
3. Lip Filler: A Subtle Holiday Upgrade
Lips are another popular area for fall treatments.
A carefully placed amount of filler can enhance lip shape, restore lost volume and improve symmetry while maintaining a natural appearance.
For someone who has never had lip filler, I often recommend taking a conservative approach. A little can go a long way, and your treatment can be customized to your individual anatomy and goals.
If holiday photos are on your calendar, give yourself enough time for swelling and bruising to settle.
4. Skin Treatments: Your Fall Glow-Up
After months of Florida sunshine, many patients are ready to address uneven pigmentation, sun damage, dullness and changes in skin texture.
Fall is an excellent time to revisit your skincare routine and consider treatments such as:
- Chemical peels
- Microneedling
- Nano-needling
- Medical-grade skincare
- Skin resurfacing treatments
- Other customized rejuvenation treatments
The exact recovery depends on the treatment. Some procedures have virtually no downtime, while others can cause several days of redness, peeling or sensitivity.
This is why I always recommend discussing your treatment timeline before scheduling—especially if you have a holiday event coming up.
5. PDO Threads: When You Want a Lift Without Traditional Surgery
PDO threads can be an option for appropriately selected patients who want to address early laxity and improve the appearance of certain areas of the face.
Unlike traditional facelift surgery, thread treatments are performed in the office and generally involve significantly less downtime. However, swelling, bruising, tenderness and temporary irregularities can occur.
If you’re considering PDO threads before the holidays, fall is the time to start the conversation, rather than waiting until December.
6. Neck and Jawline Treatments
The neck and jawline can become especially noticeable in photographs—and sometimes they are the area that bothers a patient the most.
Depending on your anatomy and goals, options may include injectables, PDO threads, or surgical procedures.
There is no single treatment that is right for everyone. During a consultation, I look at the entire face and neck rather than simply treating the area a patient points to.
Sometimes a combination of smaller treatments can create a more balanced result.
7. Bigger Surgery? Start Planning Now.
Fall is also an excellent time to schedule a consultation for surgery, even if your actual procedure will take place later.
Procedures such as upper and/or lower eyelid surgery, breast surgery, liposuction and tummy tuck require significantly more planning and recovery time than injectables.
That is why I tell my patients: don’t plan your surgery around the holiday party—plan your holiday around your recovery.
A consultation gives us the opportunity to discuss your goals, determine which procedure is appropriate and establish a realistic recovery timeline.
Your Fall-to-Holiday Treatment Timeline
Here’s a simple way to think about it:
September–October:
Ideal time to start consultations, plan surgery and begin a skin-rejuvenation program.
October–November:
A great time for injectables, skin treatments and procedures that require some healing time before holiday gatherings.
November–December:
Focus on treatments with shorter, predictable downtime—and don’t wait until the week of your holiday event for something you’ve never tried before!
After the holidays:
For larger procedures requiring several weeks of recovery, the period after the holidays may be an excellent time to schedule surgery when you can give yourself adequate time to heal.
My Biggest Fall Beauty Tip: Don’t Wait Until December
One of the biggest mistakes I see is patients waiting until the last minute.
If you know you have Thanksgiving dinner, holiday parties, family photographs or a special New Year’s event coming up, give yourself time.
Even minimally invasive treatments can cause temporary swelling or bruising, and surgical procedures require much more recovery planning. Your individual healing time can vary, so your treatment plan should always be personalized.
And remember—you don’t need to do everything.
Sometimes the best result comes from one carefully selected treatment rather than several procedures at once.
My approach has always been to listen to what you want to improve, evaluate your individual features and recommend treatments that help you look like the best version of yourself—not like someone else.
Ready for Your Fall Refresh?
If you’ve been thinking about doing something for yourself before the holidays, fall is the perfect time to start the conversation.
Whether your goal is brighter skin, smoother lines, fuller lips, a more refreshed appearance around the eyes or a surgical transformation you’ve been considering for years, let’s create a plan that makes sense for you and your timeline.
The holidays will be here before you know it. Your best treatment plan starts with a consultation—not a last-minute appointment.
Individual recovery times and treatment results vary. A consultation is necessary to determine which treatments are appropriate for you.
