Can I have more than one surgical procedure at a time?
Usually the answer is yes. The factors that determine what procedures can be done in combination usually relate to your safety. The issues that are always considered for a particular combination of procedures are as follows: your overall health condition, the duration of the procedure, the physiologic stress to your body, and the biochemical changes related to your surgery.
For example, common combinations that are safe for most patients include: liposuction of the abdomen and breast augmentation, or liposuction of
several areas at once. Another group of procedures commonly performed together are upper eyelid lift, facelift, and neck lift.
There are multiple advantages in performing these procedures in combination. These advantages include, among others, the lowered cost and a single recovery. Patients typically report increased self-esteem, self-image, and an overall improvement in the quality of their lives.
